These nobles governed russia for nearly three centuries. Their legendary wealth, which included Fabergé eggs and precious jewels, continues to capture the imagination of people even today. While many believed that the Romanov family's wealth was lost during the revolution of 1917, there are numerous stories circulating about hidden treasures lost throughout the journey. Online gaming company Microgaming decided to build upon the allure of the Romanov legacy and created a new video slot called Romanov Riches.
This slot includes a wide array of sparkly stones, stacked symbols and a potential bonus round that will allow for up to 1,000 times the amount wagered. This review of Romanov Riches will explore all of the features of the slot, including the basic information regarding the slot; information regarding the symbols used within the slot and their respective payouts; the RTP of Romanov Riches; the wild and re-spin features of Romanov Riches; and finally how the three-wheel bonus round operates. Lastly, we'll discuss how this slot performs on mobile devices.
When launching Romanov Riches, the first aspect of the game that grabs attention is the elegance. As you gaze upon the reels surrounded by a treasure trove of jewels, you're immediately immersed in a luxurious world reminiscent of a private Russian tsar vault. Beads, necklaces, diamond-studded rings and beautiful diamonds adorn the background behind the reels and establish the ambiance.
Please note that none of these treasures fall onto the reels or contribute to your win. However, they set the tone for the game perfectly. The overall design is refined versus flashy, with soft animation and music creating an atmosphere reminiscent of scouring the globe for lost treasures from the Romanov dynasty.
Romanov Riches utilizes a combination of higher Value and lower Value symbols. Additionally, a few unique symbols serve as gateways to unlock various aspects of Romanov Riches' functionality:
| Software | Microgaming |

| Slot RTP | 96.08% |
The premium symbols utilized in Romanov Riches are four distinct precious gemstones: emeralds, diamonds, rubies and amethysts. The four gems provide large payouts relative to other icons in Romanov Riches and due to their ability to appear stacked on the reels, they can fill all five reels at once. When all five reels are filled with the same symbol(s), multiple paylines can activate on a single spin.
The lower-paying symbols are the standard royalty deck of cards (ace through 10). Although they pay less than the premium symbols, they appear more frequently and maintain your balance level until larger wins occur.
There are two unique symbols in Romanov Riches that generate excitement in Romanov Riches:
Romanov Riches provides an RTP of 96.08% — a fairly standard rate when compared to Microgaming slots. The reason why it is considered "fair" is that although a 96.08% RTP doesn't represent a 96.08% chance to win per spin, it indicates how much profit you would theoretically make for every £100 wagered across all players over time.
It's essential to remember that slots have randomness and your session could result in either significant profits or losses far beyond that theoretical number. Therefore, although a good RTP is advantageous, it shouldn't be your only consideration when selecting an online slot machine. Considerations should include your enjoyment of the gameplay, betting options available, and quality of the experience.
The snowflake is an extremely beneficial symbol in romanov riches. Landing 5 snowflakes across any one of 15 possible paylines will award you Romanov Riches' largest payout for a single line of 5000 coins. Like many slots with wilds, the snowflake wild replaces any regular paying symbol to help complete or enhance winning combinations. Unfortunately, it cannot substitute for the bonus symbol. Thus, to access the wheel feature, you'll need actual bonus symbols on the reels. There are several critical things you need to know about wilds.
Wilds do not multiply your winnings. You won't receive any multiplier from landing wilds on your winning combinations. Wilds cannot replace mystery stacked symbols. Wilds can however, combine with mystery stacks to create winning combinations. In addition to triggering re-spin features, wilds can also aid in initiating wild re-spin features. Now let's move on to one of Romanov Riches' most unique features: re-Spins.
For those who are accustomed to finding a traditional free Spins round in a slot machine, you'll find that Romanov Riches offers something entirely different: re-Spins based on mystery stacked symbols.
Let's outline how re-Spins operate in Romanov Riches:
The three-wheel bonus round is easily Romanov Riches' greatest attraction and where you'll find its largest payouts. The bonus round is activated anytime you land full stacks of bonus symbols on the reels:
As previously mentioned, stacking bonus symbols on the first few reels greatly increases your chances of extending your streak and unlocking more wheels via re-Spins. After completing your initial re-Spins, you begin spinning your three wheels to determine your cash reward(s). If you've enabled wheels 2 &/or 3, you'll receive an additional reward from each respective wheel in addition to wheel 1's payout.
The ultimate goal is to trigger all three wheels because wheel 3 allows you to apply a multiplier to your combined total from wheel 1 & wheel 2. With both conditions met (all three wheels spun and wheel 3 applies a multiplier), you could win up to 1,000x your bet - Romanov Riches' maximum win.
Most modern Microgaming slots are designed with mobility in mind and Romanov Riches is no exception. Regardless of whether you choose to play on a desktop computer/laptop/tablet/smartphone, Romanov Riches delivers an identical experience and similar performance. Smaller screens adapt well and provide ample space for seeing symbols, buttons etc., allowing for seamless navigation. Typically, no separate app needs to be downloaded as you can play directly through your mobile web browser at virtually any casino that carries Microgaming slots. That makes it convenient for a short session during lunch or prolonged sessions at home.
Microgaming has produced countless slots over the years and many follow a similar structure featuring free Spins and multipliers. One major difference with Romanov Riches is its departure from this model. Rather than sending players to independent free Spins rounds, Romanov Riches incorporates the excitement into its base game via re-Spins and stacked symbols and reserves its greatest achievements for its wheel bonuses. Players interested in themed slots with a twist may also enjoy titles like Emperor of the Sea or Lucha Legends which offer significantly different experiences.
Although slot machines use randomness for determining winners/losers, employing common sense practices will increase your enjoyment of Romanov Riches:
Romanov Riches is a breath of fresh air among many slots developed by Microgaming over the years. Initially, the absence of a traditional free Spins round seems like an inconvenience but the re-Spins feature truly makes up for it. Having a chance to obtain up to three re-Spins off one paid spin keeps each round exciting, and having the potential to achieve a full-screen win by utilizing stacked symbols creates anticipation for each spin. Ultimately, the true star is Romanov Riches' three-wheel bonus game.
Gaining access to all three wheels requires landing bonus stacks across all five reels — providing a potential payout of up to 1,000 times your bet. Combining this with an excellent RTP of 96.08%, and the ability to play anywhere using desktop or mobile makes Romanov Riches an exceptional choice for anyone seeking a treasure hunt with historical flair and excitement!
